@pdcawley oh yes. Textile is so nice and straightforward, with clear purpose.

#TangentNotes doesn’t do special rendering for tables or definition lists, but as long as it doesn’t argue with me about what I type? I can set font to something monospace and not care.

More gird-the-loins suggestions for 2024: thanks to editing capabilities, you can retroactively apply content warnings to your hot take toots.

I know this because I have done it a few times. I think of it as an “oh sorry i meant that but i did not mean to shout it” kind of moment.

Today the Fediverse has told me that it’s perihelion, with the sun closer and larger in appearance than any other day of the year. Also that there’s a great meteor shower that we are in peak time to view.

Meanwhile in the Pacific Northwest:

@philsplace well yeah it’s cloudy it’s just the cloud is RIGHT THERE

@philsplace Do you not see the gray in my beard? Well no. Not with my avatar being a blown-out black and white like that.

Anyways yeah I recognize it. Good choice.

Copyright’s been forcefully extended in the US for decades – we can reasonably say “generations” – to prevent the IP loss of a single Mickey Mouse iteration. Disney finally stopped fighting, probably because they have other ideas to hoard their intellectual property.

But anyways I get why noteworthy initial derivations of that first iteration have been spiteful. Disney haven’t exactly been sweethearts.

And I’m not gonna worry about it. The quality cultural contributions inspired by a slowly recovering public domain won’t happen in a week.

@nomad I would suspect it has — it just hasn’t washed up on our shores yet.

@mjgardner that’s the important part in any sane social media experience: keep your mute keywords regularly tuned!

@lordbowlich That’s an aspect for sure, but whether somebody cares probably won’t be sufficient. They want to own. I fully expect some “Once Upon a Time” style reclaiming at intervals so they can continue to claim ownership of their characters.

Updated my system before installing a package and then forgot the package I was going to install.

Oh yeah that’s right, neovim.

Thanks for helping!
