@sleepyfox @coffeegeek valid but at this point I’ve decided Twitter’s dead enough to stop tracking whether somebody grabs my username on X.

But — even though that means I’ve got some wasted business stickers — that’s a personal concern, not a professional or business one.

so excited

i may get to wear underwear today

(washer and dryer are being delivered; we’ve been hand-washing since a few weeks before we moved so this is a big deal)

@c0debabe I rarely name them but when doing Web dev tutorials I often stack, then tile the tabs in the stack.

hackers.town: 2024-06-27 Thu 08:08

@c0debabe (also also, phanpy and pinafore both work great as sidebar bookmarks)

@masukomi same (though in my case 1991 is because this undiagnosed neurodivergent needed a 2nd senior year)

What bugs me is I feel like age is a factor in the jobs I want, just as I was starting to feel good about my skills.

hackers.town: 2024-06-27 Thu 08:33

@masukomi In the bigger picture that’s the greater concern yeah. And once I’m getting a paycheck again this’ll shift to being my bigger personal peeve. Until then, well.

Frustrating to get contacted about a position that sounds interesting, except it’s hybrid w/ four days on-site and the commute is 876 miles.

hackers.town: 2024-06-27 Thu 10:48

“we saw your profile” you saw it yeah but apparently you didn’t read it.

hackers.town: 2024-06-27 Thu 10:54

@thegibson That is one spiffy device.

hackers.town: 2024-06-27 Thu 12:27

Just so maybe one less person out there needs to figure this out in #python

hackers.town: 2024-06-27 Thu 15:08

oh hey yay my smash-logseq-into-a-graph-database Python code works directly on Windows now, no WSL intermediary. And pretty quickly, running off a Dev drive.

Nowadays I can’t tell if somebody’s naturally a terrible writer or if they’re using an LLM to strip everything down to the quality of an 8th grader with a thesaurus and no personal voice, trying to please a teacher who’s given up.

hackers.town: 2024-06-27 Thu 15:59

They need an editor either way.

Current weather outlook: DRAMA

Many clouds against a blue sky, edges brightly lit by sunlight

Dark cloud contrasting against a mostly overcast sky

Looking over some notes and it’s kind of amusing to me how much of my work ethic as pertains to startups is just sisu. “Yeah we’re almost definitely doomed but let’s make a good show on the way down.”

course i try not to say that stuff out loud during interviews

Holy crap this sunset.

We had sucker holes in Washington too, but they usually don’t look like hellmouths.

Meanwhile

I made enough spaghetti to feed us for a week.

I no longer get to make fun of her for over serving.

hackers.town: 2024-06-27 Thu 21:07

@genehack and then we go and get finagled into processing absolutely everything. I am disappointed in the collective generational We.

hackers.town: 2024-06-27 Thu 21:26

@genehack I suppose yeah that was kinda the point of the whole thing.

I just never stopped to consider how many unpleasant paths one could be taken down with no binding ethos as the binding ethos.

hackers.town: 2024-06-27 Thu 21:32

@genehack It’s kinda weird to notice in June but I’m finding less SAD stuff even during summer with day and night being closer in proportion to each other down here.

Maybe part of it’s after enough 10pm summer sunsets part of your brain is already going “well soon enough it’ll be dark by 4pm,” and I don’t have that here.

Though I have filed a stern letter with the local authorities about humidity in the desert.
