Thinking I’ll pace the coffee today, see if that eases the daily anxiety spikes.

@alexwild Fedi’s where I go to hang out with friends. Bsky’s where I go to catch up on the world and be sad.
The iRC / Twitter gap is restored.

Monthly ADHD meds / therapy checkin session is tomorrow. That’ll be fun for them I’m sure.

Sent a meeting invite with agenda, context, questions, and goals.

(also put clarifying comments with the questions, because I am fully cognizant that I might be asking the wrong questions)

(reviews invite I wrote)
Realizing I have done the very #ADHD thing of communication blackout until I know what I’m asking, and then my questions are a longform essay.

@ColesStreetPothole the first decade of Vietnam-related movies were amazing – some obviously fresh cultural wounds being processed – and contributed heavily to little me’s understanding of what the country asks from those who serve (basically everything) and what it gives in return (as little as possible). Some serious requests for accountability and consistency.
But the grown-ups just heard “we don’t love our troops enough” and spent the 80s all gung-ho Reaganite flag-waving and war-criming.
(sigh)

@thegibson the Fedi’s too big for just one vibe now.
It’s overall a good thing, even though “cozy” is a much harder target to maintain.
hackers.town: 2024-11-11 Mon 16:01
@thegibson video games are poopy
hackers.town: 2024-11-11 Mon 16:01
@thegibson also Ubuntu Linux
hackers.town: 2024-11-11 Mon 16:05
@thegibson how about “the beneficial qualities of a software license or tool are directly offset by the malignant qualities of the people who dominate its communities.”
hackers.town: 2024-11-11 Mon 16:06
@thegibson just workshopping here

@yojimbo I use Starship for my modest needs. What’s the missing feature, if you’re free to describe it? Just curious about the edges of this tool.

@nomad @thegibson selected because it’s considered controversial by exactly the sort of folks you’d want to be rid of.
hackers.town: 2024-11-11 Mon 17:07
Why we call him Bouncy Dog.
hackers.town: 2024-11-11 Mon 17:42
@chris not entirely sure, no.
hackers.town: 2024-11-11 Mon 17:55
@m Definitely rough. Take the needed mourning time, for sure.
hackers.town: 2024-11-11 Mon 18:37
@m it gets a little tedious when he gets on a roll just bouncing and barking and my Apple Watch is alerting me that I should step away from the locomotive or heavy metal concert or whatever TF is so loud, but yeah it’s also cute as heck.

Talking about gifts for one of the family members who is a AAA gamer and I’m over here going “I’m not spending $70 on a computer game from some big studio.”
(both because I am old and because I never met a AAA game studio that didn’t tick me off)
how about stardew valley with a gorey violence mod
hackers.town: 2024-11-11 Mon 20:36
@Linux_in_a_Bit he may have already tried Xonotic! It looks very much in his lane.
He’s not exclusively AAA gaming, but those are the ones he gets excited about.
