@socketwench I’d have to look up how much Shadow DOM specifically is in use out there, but server-side rendering complicated the equation of who’s using what.

JSX and MDX are definitely in the category of custom tags, though. I’m using Astro components as a mostly-static templating language in MDX files, because scoped CSS is a delight.

@socketwench good news there’s also a couple tables for the residents with imposter syndrome.

Mom showing me a “passive income” site and I’m not sure about the site itself but I heckin’ love the header font they use (though they have some things to learn about contrast). Alas, proprietary paid. Which I would have no problem with if not for the whole “no money” thing.

The font: Creative Vintage Font Webfont & Desktop MyFonts

Mom and I talking about the compulsion to diagnose unacceptable behavior. She gets the prize for this line:

“Any bad behavior is labeled sociopath. Mental disorder. I wanna go back to the days where an asshole is just an asshole.”

@ceejbot This is one of my trivial but emotionally significant frustrations with being unemployed these last several months. My PC died a few months back and the next one is probably gonna be way more expensive thanks to tariff talk.

@getajobmike Hanami is quite nice to play with, and goodness I would love the opportunity to use it in anger sometime.

🤔 I’ve got a few project ideas and they aren’t hooked to a specific language or framework yet. Maybe I’ll go do that.

She’s doing an online assessment and reading some of the more interesting questions out loud.

She: “true or false: People can put files inside of folders but not folders inside of files”

Me: Hm. Hmm. Hmmm.

She: “which of these search results is an ad?”

Me: is “probably all of them” an option? Because probably all of them oh but that’s not what they’re looking for

@wez while dodging chairs maybe?

hackers.town: 2025-01-22 Wed 14:37

@bertkoor Right! Or just a tar file!

Or proper heinous, store a list of folder inodes as a text file.

hackers.town: 2025-01-22 Wed 14:38

@bertkoor but yeah my first thought was a zip file, and my second thought involved databases.

@thegibson @IamMrsGeek they are early enough in their cooking journey that my first thought at this news was “better crack the window open.”

A post-mortem on some excellent detective work by @mmastrac and others. Educational and the kind of fun you can only get by watching someone else put out a fire. Their fire, not yours.

@earthshine Specifically, I think Tucker & Dale vs Evil played with horror movie tropes in a more endearing and enduring fashion than the Scream franchise or Cabin in the Woods
